Bea Alonzo is Phylbert Angelie Ranollo Fagestrom in real life. She was born on October 17, 1987. Her father is a British and her mother is a Filipina. It is that combination that she get her mestiza beauty. It is said that she attended Ususan Elementary School in Taguig City.
Bea Alonzo started her showbiz career when she was casted in the TV drama "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay". Whlie doing the said TV drama, Bea also started her career as host and a performer in ASAP in 2002 where she is still active until today.
Bea's performance in "Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay" was noticed by ABS-CBN bigwigs and that led her to various prime time projects. Bea was casted in "It Might Be You", this time she shares the lead role alongside Claudine Barretto and John Lloyd Cruz.
Another big break was given to Bea Alonzo when she was again included in the TV remake of "Maging Sino Ka Man" with Anne Curtis, John Lloyd Cruz and Sam Milby. It was a critically acclaimed TV drama that it hit the charts during it's airtime. It was in that reason that the show was immediately succeeded with a sequel "Maging Sino KA Man: Ang Pagbabalik" which was also a big hit in the national TV ratings. This time, they were joined by Angelica Panganiban, Toni Gonzaga, Rossana Roces and other big names in ABS-CBN.
More projects were given to Bea in TV but her biggest break was when she was named to play the lead role in the local TV remake of the worldwide hit TV series "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea". The local title was "I Love Betty La Fea" and this was aired also in the US and Canada via the Filipino channel. Many critics lauded Bea in her performance for the said show and that catapulted her into stardom.
Bea also guested in "May Bukas Pa" and then given another lead role in "Magkaribal" opposite Gretchen Barretto. It was again a critically-acclaimed series and there are talks of making a book 2 for the said show.
As of this writing, Bea Alonzo is again scheduled to appear in another primetime offering from ABS-CBN titled "Guns & Roses" where she is going to play the role of Reign. It is however not yet clear when the show is going to start.
Aside from TV, Bea Alonso also made it big in the movies. She started with "My First Romance" where the Bea-John Lloyd started as a love team on screen. The success of the love team caught the attention of the Star Cinema bosses and they immediately followed it up with another love movie "Now That I Have You" which was also a big success in the box office sales.
Her next project is another romance film titled "Mr. Dreamboy" and this time opposite hearthrob Piolo Pascual. It was followed by "All About Love" where Bea and John Lloyd starred in the segment "About Anna". It was followed by "Pacquiao: The Movie" where she played the role of Jinkee Pacquiao. "Close To You" was another memorable and hit movie for Bea and John Lloyd which strengthen the love team to be a box office hit.
"On More Chance" was the most successful movie for Bea Alonzo. The movie ranked as the 8th highest grossing Filipino film at all time. It was also the ASAP Pop Viewer's Choice for Love Team and Pop Screen Kiss awards. It was also awarded as the GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Award for Box-Office Queen for Bea. The movie also garnered nominations in FAMAS for Best Actress Award, FAP for Best Actress Award and PMPC Star Award for Movies for the Movie Actress of the Year category.
The movie was followed by another award winning movie titled "And I Love You So". It garnered the Gawad PASADO Award for Best Actress. Despite the movie was not shown in SM Cinemas due to conflict in the negotiations with the SM and Star Cinema people, the movie managed to rank as 2nd to a foreign film "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" during it's playing time.
Then Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz were reunited in the movie "Miss You Like Crazy" which ranks as the 10th highest grossing Filipino film of all time. The last movie of Bea for the year 2010 was the star studded movie titled "Sa'yo Lamang" which was also a big hit in the box office.
